The Freedom Tower: The picture shows one World Trade Center towering above the Lower Manhattan skyline and the Hudson in New York. The giant monolith, being built to replace the Twin Towers, reached a preliminary milestone on April 30 when workers erected steel columns that stretched its unfinished skeleton to a little over 1,250 feet. The building isn’t expected to reach its full height for at least another year.
